Calamus - acorus calamus - Calamus is mentioned frequently in the Old Testament. This particular variety doesn’t contain asarone which is considered a skin sensitizer and is known to cause skin toxicity. Its aroma is spicy, some find it calming, perhaps due to its base note. This is not an oil which is widely used in aromatherapy, do not use during pregnancy, on infants, children or the elderly.
